Car stereo powering question.?

When i connect the black(ground) cable, the yellow(constant) cable, and the red(ACC) cable to the matching car wires, the stereo display and lights do not come on. But when i connect the four yellow,red, ACC, and constant cables my stereo illuminates even if my car is completely turned off. My clock also comes on and does not go off until i disconnect them. How do I wire the stereo correctly so it only turns on when my car is on ACCESSORY?
