I'm having a cold and I have asthma?

I've been having a cold now for a about 9 days (it's mainly a severally congested nose) and it's not getting any better. On top of that I have asthma which is making it even worse. It's become so bad that I've been waking up several times in the night because I've stopped breathing. I've been take nasal spray, which seems to work but only in the day time. It says it's 12 hour but it works only for about 4-6 hours. I'm beginning to get frustrated. I can't sleep and my doctor can't see me for several weeks. Can anyone suggest some really long lasting nasal decongestant or some ideas to help me sleep easier. Or maybe you've gone through this and can tell me what helped you. Anything at all would be much appreciated!
