Pothos marble queen wilting after cloning?

I have cut some friends plants at the 45 degree angle to repot and make it so its not so long. I am waiting for these to root but they are still not rooting. I did the clonex gel and am being patient. Do I need to spray the leaves with water since there are no roots to get plant water or just leave it alone? any advice will help. If these part of the plant die I feel I cut them off for no reason and everywhere I look online it says these are easy to clone but why does it take so long for the plant to get unlimp and sad looking? help please
